Anti-Aging! Younger-Looking Skin... The Forever-Evolving Topic!
I'm able to discuss one of my favorite topics! This topic is constantly ever-evolving, it gives me pride in knowing that it's always taking further & newer technological advances. Unfortunately, we can't become anti-aging unicorns... 🦄 (As much as I would like to be! LOL! 🤣) There are however ways to turn back the clock...
Retinoids: The gold-standard ingredient for lines/wrinkles, dark spots, texture. Also, it's OTC form "Retinol", they both convert into retinoic acid, however as mentioned in a previous post, OTC formulas just takes a bit of longer to see results.
Other Ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid (also listed on lists as Sodium Hyaluronate as its' salt form, for better penetration) is a wonderful skin plumping ingredient for fine lines & wrinkles, it's in the same ingredient in dermal fillers, however it can reap incredible benefits topically, also for some can even promote firmness. Not such a bad to addition to have. Not to mention that our bodies make hyaluronic acid already but the production can slow down with age. There are also amino acids/peptides (which both work very similarly) which are proteins that have can have an anti-aging powerhouse of benefits, helps with uneven skintone, lines/wrinkles, and textural issues as well. Alpha Hydroxy Acids like Glycolic or Lactic help to exfoliate the dead skin cells underneath and renew your skin along with it and Beta Hydroxy Acid (Salicylic Acid) works more for combination to oily complexions as well as prone to acne, either way both are great options to choose from! Vitamin C, not only prevents but reverses skin damage as well, mostly used for brightening but does add its' own wrinkle-smoothing benefits as well. Antioxidants are a must to prevent and treat further free radical damage, and with a Sunscreen on top (remember an SPF is #1 for anti-aging benefits), it makes for an amazing product combination. There are many more of an abundance ingredients that can further promote collagen production, collagen is in our skin that helps to keep our skin lineless & healthy-looking. Elastin is responsible for keeping our skin taught and firm! As we age even starting as early in our 20s-30s, we lose it and it's important to replenish our skin with collagen-boosting ingredients, like some of the few ones mentioned above. Make sure to read your ingredients list to make sure you're getting what you need for skin and to look for certain ingredients that your reactive & sensitive to. ^_^

Cosmetic Procedures: For the Wrinkle-worriers, there's Microdermabrasion for the top layer surface of skin, for a deeper penetration to correct certain signs of aging as well there are chemical peels as also. Make sure to speak to your Professionals so they can guide you in the right direction to go into depending on some of your main concerns. Injectables are also the way to go... For example, there's Botox (also known as Botulinum toxin and offered under different companies as well), that's used from the eyes and up to Forehead. This treatment helps to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, instantly (at times) and you'll see the benefits work overtime. How it works is that it paralyzes the muscles that create those repeated expression lines and prevent them as well to lessen the wrinkling when you smile and see crow's feet around the eyes for example or when you furrow in between your brows that makes those pesky repeated expression lines. The treatment can also be used for lines on the neck too, as well addressing some of the crepiness! Results for Botox treatments typically last about 3-4 months and would have re-book an appointment during that time, time of results vary from client to client. There's also Dermal Fillers like brands called Juvederm or Restalyne that help with plumping the skin for more desired elasticity, helps filling any hollowness on the cheeks from loss of elasticity due to ages and other factors, under the eyes for dark circles or any kind hollowness around underneath, nasolabial folds (a.k.a Smile lines), those are mostly the main uses for it. These treatments can last about 6 months to a year! Which is nice that kind of longevity with results, again time varies from client to client tho. Make sure speak to your Doctor, everyone's skin is different, of course. Depending on the individual, you may possibly need lesser treatments in-between during a course of time of consistently doing them.
Going onto Laser & Intense-Pulsed Light Therapy treatments. There's such a wide array of different kinds for the vast majority of skin tones as well, these can help with wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, blemishes, texture, skin tightening, & even more! These will help promote for higher levels of collagen production & to help awaken elastin (think easy bounce back, pinching the skin on the back of your hand and snapping right back into place within seconds). Radiofrequency/Ultrasound treatments have been the latest & all the rage, the brand Ultherapy has gotten a lot of notoriety recently, helping firming the skin and for lines/wrinkles mostly. In many Dermatologists & Plastic Surgeons, these procedures are widely available, make sure they are board-certified as well. Your doctor may require more than one procedure to achieve your skin care goals. Honesty & open communication is a must! Don't forget this... It's more important than you may think.
Final Words: Celebrities who've I admired now as they age or age-less so to speak! LOL... like Enrique Iglesias, Mario Lopez, Gong Li and certain Japanese models like Risa Hirako and Masako Mizutani that never seem to age either. Whether it's maintenance on their skin, rigorous or consistent skin care regimens or as well as having healthy, balanced diets, which I had forgotten to touch upon. That as well can have an impact on the overall health & quality of your skin. With anti-aging, it's consistently forever-evolving for newer treatments solutions for either in-office or to purchase OTC. As much as I'd LOVE to see into future of skin care, about 1000 years ahead of our time now, to see the major evolutions & changes in the industry. Will we be able to stop the physical aging process at some point in time? Very Sci-Fi way of thinking but extraordinarily none the least, my undying passion grows to learn more & more with whatever the future holds. ^_^
Yours truly always,
Mr. Skin Care Guru
