Essences: Is it a Necessary Step?

 

   I had never thought on discussing this topic just until a few days ago... Essences are almost like a hybrid of a toner & serum. They go within that step as well after your toner and before you apply your serum. The purpose of Essences besides delivering ingredients, is by increasing product penetration & absorption of your serums & moisturizer that would typically go on top afterwards. Plenty of users even tout is as their "miracle beauty water", I think personally it could help increase the absorption of your other products on top. However, everyone has different results but that's said with skincare in general.

   Just don't know if it's the most necessary step to have as part of a skincare regimen, a mix & combinations of products can produce different outcomes. I would slowly introduce this into a routine you already have and see how it works with your skin overall. Some may see improvements and other will feel it doesn't make that much of a difference than before. I certainly don't think at all it hurts to try. It's a nice product to have but again would not say it's a necessity to say the least.

   Essences could also be referred to as "lotions" as well. They both provide similar and the same functions overall. I, personally would put more money into quality serums & moisturizers. Product penetration differs from product to product, as well as depending on the pH levels of those products alone (i.e. acidic vs. alkaline). Even applying products on slightly damp skin can make a bit of a difference on how that item absorbs into the skin. Think of it as a vehicle for the ingredients to go into skin and penetrating enough to see some results & more over the course of time. Not a bad item to have if you'd like to apply it into your routine, I just personally feel it may nor be the the most necessary item to have in your skincare arsenal.
